Overlooking the mighty Ohio River from the southern tip of Illinois, this majestic location has been preserved and maintained since 1908, when it became Illinois'​ first state park. Today, Fort Massac is a captivating reminder of days gone by, a fascinating excursion through the entire course of American history, and the perfect place to relax in soothing natural surroundings. The nearly 1,500-acre park is perfect for picnics, camping, hiking, fishing, boating, and seasonal hunting programs. The park also has an 18-hole disc golf course. Fort Massac State Park is also home to special events that bring to life Colonial and early American history, including the popular Fort Massac Encampment festival each October, and fascinating interpretive programs year round at the park and the Fort Massac Visitor Center​.

Directions

From Mt. Vernon, IL – take I-57 south approximately 47 miles to Exit 44, merging onto I-24 towards Nashville. Drive approximately 37 miles to Exit 37 then turn right at the stop light on Rt 45. Drive 2.1 miles and turn left into Ft Massac State Park (right across from Sonic). The campground is the 3rd road on the left.
